Management and intervention consortium for protection of surface waters in the border region Romania – Ukraine, CTMI (2007 – 2008)

The project was initiated by the “Corona” Foundation, Suceava Branch, in partnership with the Cernăuţi Community Organization “Business Center” and the “Romontana” Association being financed by the European Union through the Romania-Ukraine Neighborhood Program 2004-2006, the Phare CBC 2005 component The aim of the project was to develop the operational capacity of intervention of the responsible actors in the border region in order to protect the quality of surface waters and to increase the level of awareness and information of the public on cooperation on this line. A cross-border workshop, the launch of an electronic discussion forum and the publication of a good practice guide have been carried out within the project. There was also a cross-border media campaign by distributing 15,000 flyers and 10,000 brochures. At the same time, 90 mayors and deputy mayors from Suceava and Botosani, as well as from Chernivtsi districts, have been trained in surface water management and protection.

Total budget of the project: 95,000 Euro.
